ABC Radio National 'Artworks' (5 December, 2010) The Italian city of Florence was made by its artisans. Their work adorns almost every corner. Their enterprise made it famous throughout the world. But this rich heritage, dating back to the Middle Ages and before, is now under threat. The artisans are disappearing and, with them, the trades and skills that have existed for hundreds of years. The Florentines fear that their once vibrant city is now becoming just a shell -- a museum for the renaissance.
